The current version of HEC-RAS supports steady and unsteady flow water surface profile calculations. In addition to the three hydraulic analysis components, the system contains several hydraulic design features that can be invoked once the basic water surface profiles are computed, including bridge scour computations, uniform flow computations, stable channel design, and sediment transport capacity. A key element is that all three components will use a common geometric data representation and common geometric and hydraulic computation routines. The HEC-RAS system will ultimately contain three one-dimensional hydraulic analysis components for: (1) steady flow water surface profile computations (2) unsteady flow simulation and (3) movable boundary sediment transport computations.Ĭurrently steady and unsteady flow are available and sediment transport is under development.
For an example, consider a model built from a detailed terrain model (2ft grid-cell resolution) with a computation cell size of 200x200 ft.
Try WMS Free for 14 Days > Purchase WMS with HEC-RAS > HEC-RAS has a 2D flow area pre-processor that processes the cells and cell faces into detailed hydraulic property tables based on the underlying terrain used in the modeling process. WMS allows you to interact with models in true 3D taking advantage of optimized OpenGL graphics and to create photo-realistic renderings and animations for PowerPoint, print, and web presentations. Gather background data from a variety of sources from GIS to CAD and access online data from numerous databases of maps, images, elevation, land use, and soil data.

Hec Hms is used for analyzing rainfall series to accurate flow at the cross sections and those cross sections we can simulate in Hec Ras for further analysis. In this course you will get detailed knowledge of tools in Hec Hms, Hec Ras and QGIS. Please click on the link and get registered by fill the online Google Registration Form. This workshop will discuss good modeling practices and identify common mistakes that are overlooked in creating a 2-D HEC-RAS model. Hec Ras and Hec Hms are basic platforms for effective hydrologic analysis of any project. Registration is paid and compulsory for participation. The benefit of a georeferenced model is that you can overly the cross sections on aerial imagery. With the addition of RAS Mapper in newer versions of HEC-RAS, it is now easier to georeference hydraulic models.
